Marian Currens, CRNP, Past President of NACDN and a winner of the Nyswander-Dole Award, will be our featured presenter. Marian entered Addiction Medicine in the 80s and was one of the first Maryland providers to give buprenorphine to patients for Substance Use Disorder. She worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and was the longtime program director at the Center for Addiction Medicine in Baltimore, an ambulatory practice offering methadone, buprenorphine/Sublocade, Vivitrol, and withdrawal management. We chose "Words Matter" as a topic because it represents an area often overlooked- nonjudgmental communication as a therapeutic tool, when talking with and about persons with SUD. We hope you will tune in, then stick around for Questions and Answers.

Always an important topic! This continuing education event is FREE for members. Marian has been an inspiration over the years to so many working in the SUD field both locally and nationally. NACDN is extremely fortunate to have her voice as part of the NACDN community.
If anyone is not familiar with Marian Currens, she is a guru of addiction medicine and she is the reason I became an addictions nurse. Her passion for helping people that suffer from the disease of addiction is remarkable.
